Founder of Your Doula Coach
East Raleigh Doula Co was birthed (see what I did there) from my own birth experiences. From one disempowering, high intervention, minimally educated birth to an incredible, empowering, physiological birth - I discovered my passion for helping women be equipped, informed and confident about their choices in pregnancy, birth and postpartum. In 2020, ERDC was created to do just that. Over the years, that vision remains the same, but has grown to include a passion for developing and equipping more doulas to carry on that vision. Now, as a team, we support hundreds of families all over the Triangle in birth, postpartum, education, fitness, and more. Thank you for entrusting us to support you. It is truly an honor.

Emily K.

birth doulas
These doulas are trained as birth doulas to provide knowledge, education, support, and care throughout your pregnancy and labor process. You will work with 2 birth doulas throughout your birth contract with us -one will be a primary doula and one will be a backup doula. They will both build a relationship with you, be in a group text with you to answer your questions, participate in your contracted prenatals and be available to you as needed. Your primary doula is to attend your birth, but if an emergency arises and she is unable to, you will still have and established relationship with your backup doula.
combo-trained doulas
(birth & postpartum)
These doulas are trained as both birth & postpartum doulas. Many times if you are utilizing both birth and postpartum services with our team, you will work with one of these doulas to maintain continuity of care.
postpartum doulas
These doulas are trained as postpartum doulas to provide knowledge, education, support, and care throughout your postpartum period. Your postpartum doula will connect with you *typically* before you birth your baby so she can be available once the time comes. She will do a prenatal to prepare for postpartum and to come up with a schedule together for when she will provide support. We love to tell our moms that we are not here to "save" you from postpartum, but to PREPARE you for postpartum. We will talk through many of the parts of postpartum that you may not be prepared for: healing, feeding goals, sleeping goals, visitors, etc. Our goal is to help moms, babies and families feel supported, heard, seen and cared for.
East Raleigh Doula Co. launched in December of 2020 with the goal being to provide better, more comprehensive and more personalized birth support for families in the triangle. As we continue to serve mothers in the Raleigh area, ERDC has brought on an incredible team of doulas to join in the vision to empower women to confidently make choices in their pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey by providing evidence-based education, labor and postpartum support.
We are able to provide birth services, childbirth education services, postpartum services and placenta encapsulation. The beauty of East Raleigh Doula Co. is that when a client hires us, they receive the benefit of our entire team of doulas, with multiple educational backgrounds and experiences. This allows the birth client to know both the primary and backup doula thats assigned to their birth which helps our clients feel more comfortable and more likely to experience a better birth and postpartum experience.

how did we get here?
our philosophy
We believe that every mother deserves an amazing support system during her birth. It is our goal to help our clients be educated, informed and feel in control of their individual birth plan and birthing process.

We also believe it is important for the birth partner to play an active role during the labor and birth. We will work with each mother and her partner to best support her individualized birth plan.

We believe that a mother should be supported no matter where she chooses to birth her child or what route she chooses for pain relief.

We believe that a mother should be supported after their baby is born and have the time to rest, heal and bond with her baby however she feels works best for her family.
