Jenna Tomlin

Birth & Postpartum Doula

A little bit about me...

I am a northern transplant to North Carolina and have lived in the area since 2016. I am married to my best friend and we have 3 kids that I homeschool. I am so thankful that I get to do all of my favorite things on a daily basis, be a wife, mother, homeschooler and doula. I always thought I’d be a doula as an empty nester but the Lord had other plans when my doula for my third child co-founded East Raleigh Doula Co and my dream could come through by partnering with East Raleigh Doula Co and my incredibly supportive work from home husband who keeps the house running while I dash off to prenatals, births and postpartum shifts. I love everything about the miracle of pregnancy and birth and I learn something new with every client and family. As a Christian I seek to love everyone I have the honor to serve and to create a supportive team environment wherever they choose to give birth.

what is your doula philosophy?

My doula style focuses on discovering the mom’s strengths and helping her find her voice so that whatever decisions she makes during the pregnancy, birth and postpartum, feel authentic and empowering to her.

My philosophy is that women and families deserve to be educated and empowered to make decisions that align with their values and that their voices be respected and honored in the ups and downs of pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

why did you become a doula?

I always had a positive perspective on birth because my mom spoke so highly of her pregnancies and birth experiences. I knew from a young age that my hearts desire was to be a wife and mom and I had the opportunity to get into the birth world before my first child was born when I became involved with a friends non-profit in Virginia that sought to educate and support women in the community from preconception to postpartum. Through this work I got to know midwives and doulas in my local area and with the support of my friend through my birth I knew a doula would always be a part of any future pregnancies I went through. My experience with my second doula was a learning experience about how important it is to find a good match for the type of support I needed in birth. And my third doula with my youngest founded East Raleigh Doula Co two years after my youngest was born. After they posted on social media that they were hiring and I inquired to see if they would mentor me down the road when my kids were older and I had more time to pursue my desire to be a doula they encouraged me to jump right in to my training and doula work and I haven’t looked back since. I did my doula training in June 2022 and my postpartum training in January 2025.

favorite types of clients to support?

I especially love supporting first time moms as they find their way through the transformation that is pregnancy and birth. Helping moms and families feel empowered as they walk in to parenthood is a profound honor I will never take for granted.

Jenna with Easy Raleigh Doula Company was such a blessing!! I had my baby in October 2024, and hiring with ERDC was the best decision! She was there for me during my pregnancy, for 13 hours during a hospitalization a week prior to delivering, and all day the day I delivered! The classes and prenatal support was incredibly valuable, but I can't put into words how grateful I was for her presence at the hospital and during delivery. Her knowledge and skill instilled a confidence and calm in me I would not have had otherwise! If I have any advice for pregnant friends, it is to hire a doula from ERDC, specifically Jenna if she is available! Rachel served as my back up doula, and she was great as well! I will absolutely be using their services again if I have another child! Thank you so much ERDC!!!!
