Postpartum Doula

A little bit about me...

Hey there! I am born and raised in Raleigh and love everything the city has to offer! I also have 3 fur babies- Oliver, Pikachu and Thor. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends, going to Carolina Hurricanes games and exploring new coffee shops or breweries. I’m a big time homebody but love the occasional spontaneous trip with my friends as well!

what is your doula philosophy?

I am a dedicated postpartum doula ready to jump in and provide support wherever it is needed. I am very hands on and want to be your #1 cheerleader during your postpartum journey.

I am a firm believer in providing all information available to my clients in an unbiased manner so they can make informed decisions that work best for their family, insuring they have a positive postpartum experience.

why did you become a doula?

After years of nannying infants I realized I wanted to be more involved and more hands on during the 4th trimester. I understand the importance of having someone there to support you, educate you, and just be in your corner. I researched my options of becoming a postpartum doula and decided to be trained with DONA. It was the best decision I’ve made career wise and I truly couldn’t be happier!

I’m so thankful for ERDC and specifically our PP Doula, Jana. As a second time mom who would be undergoing a C-section I knew that I wanted as much postpartum help as I could get. With my first birth I did not have a postpartum doula and I wish I did!

Jana was with our family over the span of 8months. She was literally there from the beginning. She came to the hospital to start postpartum care and give my husband a chance to go home to spend time with our oldest. I’m so thankful for that because my stay ended up being longer than anticipated and her being there allowed my husband to leave and know I was not being left alone to care for our newborn while weak from surgery. When I got COVID 3rd trimester she was a helpful resource and provided me with helpful info. All throughout the postpartum period she was such a great resource. She was someone I could talk to and was a listening ear (even when I was talking in circles or rambling from fatigue :-). Having Jana around helped make the transition easy for my oldest as well because I was able to have those one on one moments with my oldest still. Jana also provided overnight care which was a huge blessing. Jana made sure I was eating healthy, staying on top of meds, meal prepped for me, made sure I didn’t do too much, helped with baby laundry, organizing baby's clothes etc.

I cannot tell you how nice it was to be able to focus on my healing and be taken care of during my postpartum period. It was so nice to have someone around that was just willing to help and understood how delicate and intense the postpartum period can be. She is so helpful and having her around really helped to keep me in a good mental space and allowed me to enjoy my postpartum period. Thank you, Jana!
