A little bit about me...

I am a natural support person at heart, someone who truly finds purpose in being there for others. I love helping people and meaningful ways, especially during some of the most transformative terms in their lives. Offering guidance, reassurance, presence comes naturally to me, and I am deeply fulfilled when I can help someone feel safe, scene, and support it. Growing up as the only girl among several brothers, I naturally stepped into a caregiving role early in life. Frequent moves throughout my childhood taught me how to adapt quickly and navigate a wide range of circumstances with resilience and empathy. I have always felt a deep connection to working with children, especially infants, and that passion has remained a constant throughout my life. As a mother of two now-grown daughters, I understand firsthand the profound joy and transformation that comes with motherhood. In addition, I had the privilege of fostering children from birth to age six, an experience that deeply shaped both my personal and professional growth. During that time, I learned how to meet families where they are, offer compassionate support, and care for children across a variety of needs and situations. These experiences have strengthened my ability to provide thoughtful, adaptable, and heartfelt care to every family I serve.

why did you become a doula?

I became a doula out of a deep passion for supporting families through the transformative journey of pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. I believe every family deserves compassionate, individualized care and unwavering support as they navigate these life-changing moments. I am equally passionate about education, empowering parents with knowledge about labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery so they can approach their experience with confidence, clarity, and a sense of preparedness.

what is your doula philosophy?

My philosophy on birth and postpartum care is rooted in compassion, adaptability, and deep respect for each family’s unique journey. I believe that pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period are transformative experiences that deserve to be met with continuous, supportive care. Every family enters this season with their own story, needs, and expectations, and I am committed to meeting them where they are with empathy, understanding, and without judgment. I view birth as a powerful and personal experience, and my role is to provide steady emotional, physical, and informational support so families feel safe, heard, and confident in their choices. Through education, I aim to empower parents with knowledge about labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery, helping them approach each stage with clarity and trust in themselves. In the postpartum period, I believe care should be just as intentional as it is during pregnancy and birth. This is a time of adjustment, healing, and growth, and families deserve to be nurtured, supported, and guided as they find their rhythm. My goal is to create a calm and reassuring presence, offering practical support while honoring the importance of rest, bonding, and overall well-being. At the heart of my work is a genuine passion for caring for others, shaped by my lifelong role as a caregiver, my experiences as a mother, and my time supporting children and families in a variety of circumstances. I strive to provide care that is not only knowledgeable and reliable, but also deeply heartfelt and centered on the needs of each family I serve.

favorite types of clients to support?

I feel most aligned with families who value connection, open communication, and a supportive, collaborative approach to their care. I am especially passionate about working with parents who desire both emotional support and education, and who are open to guidance as they navigate pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum transition. I enjoy supporting families from diverse backgrounds and circumstances, and I am committed to creating a safe, respectful space where each client feels seen, heard, and empowered in their choices. At the heart of my work, I am drawn to clients who are seeking not just support, but a steady, compassionate presence during one of life’s most meaningful transitions.

a few of my favorite things...

I truly appreciate thoughtful, personal gestures, though a gift is never expected. If clients feel called to give something, I tend to love items that reflect my personality and favorite comforts. I’m especially drawn to bold, rich colors—deep oranges, a verity of blues/teals, bright yellows always feel like home to me. My favorite places being a sunrise on the ocean.
My favorite animals are turtles and elephants.
I’m also a big coffee lover, so a good bag of coffee or a gift card to a local coffee shop is always appreciated. And if you really want to sweeten the moment, I have a soft spot for caramels—especially chocolate-covered caramels, which are a favorite treat of mine. Above all, the most meaningful “gift” is always the trust families place in me to be part of such a special and intimate time in their lives.

When I first got pregnant, I knew I wanted to find a doula, but the idea of choosing the right one felt overwhelming with how many providers are out there. Thankfully, a close friend who was pregnant at the same time referred me to Amanda—and after our initial phone call, I immediately knew she was the perfect fit for our birth experience and for the kind of support I wanted throughout my pregnancy. From the very beginning, Amanda was so attentive and reassuring. She was always available to answer my questions and thoughtfully checked in on me, especially as we got closer to our prenatal sessions. Both our virtual meeting and our in-person prenatal visit were thorough, informative, and calming. She even introduced us to her backup doula, Shelly, who was lovely as well, though thankfully Amanda was able to attend my birth herself since our timing worked out perfectly. Throughout my pregnancy, Amanda made sure both my husband and I felt completely supported. She offered tools, education, and encouragement that helped us feel confident and prepared. In the final two weeks leading up to my due date, when I went overdue, she stayed in touch every single day—not just with me, but also with my husband and my grandma, who were part of my support team. She never made me feel like any question was too small or too personal, and her warmth and calm presence were such a comfort. When labor finally began (after my third cervical sweep!), my water broke and everything started moving quickly. My grandma drove me to the hospital, and as soon as she called Amanda, she was on her way. Even when parts of my birth plan started to change and things didn’t go exactly as I had imagined, Amanda made me feel empowered and supported in every decision. She helped me through contractions, guided me into different labor positions, and created the most peaceful birth environment that I requested and envisioned —string lights, calming music, and all. She held my hand, reassured me, and worked seamlessly alongside my husband and grandma until our baby arrived that night. She never once left my side. Her energy, her compassion, and her ability to bring such calm and grounding to the room made all the difference in my birth experience. I truly believe my body responded better because of her presence—her guidance helped my husband and grandma know exactly how to support me, while she held space for me emotionally and spiritually. A week after our birth, Amanda came to our home for a postpartum visit. She spent time talking with both me and my husband, checking in on our physical and emotional well-being, and offering helpful advice as we navigated the first days with our newborn. She made sure we knew she was still there for us anytime we needed support in the future. We are endlessly grateful for Amanda and can’t recommend her enough. She was everything we could have hoped for and more—a calming presence, a source of knowledge and strength, and a true gift to have by our side. I will absolutely hire her again for any future births. Thank you, Amanda, for making our experience so peaceful, positive, and empowering.
