East Raleigh Doula Co. was created by two birth-loving doulas & friends , Emily Kelly & Courtney Little. After running our own businesses for a few years, we noticed how often we leaned on one-another for backup birth support. We realized it would be in the best interest for our clients and for one another to combine forces and become a TEAM that supports our birth clients. The beauty of East Raleigh Doula Co.  is that when a client hires us, they receive the benefit of TWO doulas, which multiple educational backgrounds and experiences. This allows the client to know both the primary and backup doula should any emergency arise. This helps our clients feel more comfortable and more likely to experience a better birth.

Courtney Little

I am a wife to Sean, mother to my two amazing children, Ethan and Madelyn, and dog mama to my black lab Lily. I have a B.S. in Psychology: Counseling.

My passion for birth began after the birth of my son, Ethan. After experiencing a birth where I did not feel empowered, I wanted to be more informed and empowered as a mother. I started making more informed choices and living a more intentional lifestyle of wellness. When I discovered was pregnant with my daughter, Madelyn, I decided I wanted a different birth experience with her than I did with my son. I wanted to advocate for my desired birth experience. Learning how to have an empowered birth sent me on a journey to help other mamas be confident in the decisions they can make in the entire journey of motherhood: pregnancy, birth and beyond. So, becoming a birth doula, myself, was how I could make that happen.

I would love to be able to support you in your journey to having an empowered and confident birth experience.

I am a wife, mother of two, and a dog-mom to a spunky standard poodle, also known as "Mac-Attack". I love music, coffee, beach trips and spending time with my family. I am passionate about childbirth education, birth and breastfeeding support.

This passion was fueled during my first pregnancy and labor.   I was amazed at the miracle of childbirth and became enthusiastic about emotionally and physically supporting other mothers in this process. After staying home for nearly four years, I decided I had found my career and became a certified birth doula through DONA International.  My love for educating mothers in their desires for birth led me to becoming a Lamaze certified childbirth educator. I strive to support my clients with evidence-based education to help them best make informed choices for their birth.

As a doula, I want to be there to support all mothers during their pregnancy and birth.  My job is to support you and give you as much information as possible so that you have the birth that you desire. I would love to support you and your partner during this miraculous time.

our philosophy

We believe that every mother deserves an amazing support system during her birth.  It is our goal to help our clients be educated, informed and feel in control of their individual birth plan and birthing process.

We also believe it is important for the birth partner to play an active role during the labor and birth.  We will work with each mother and her partner to best support her individualized birth plan.

We believe that a mother should be supported no matter where she chooses to birth her child or what route she chooses for pain relief.
